Keep It Short

The Wisdom Of Other People #1

In this new category here I will pass along some of the best advice I have been given by other people.  Folks love to give me advice and I in turn really enjoy receiving it.

This came from one a woman who has served as our Autism guru through the last 10 years.

Her advice:

Just when you feel overwhelmed by autism or the world it is important to remember that everything changes.  Even heartaches go away.

Life goes on.

Jack's Prayer

Jack sat on his favorite park bench at the small park to watch the sunset every day.

No matter his mood.  No matter the weather.  He always made it to the bench to watch the sun fade behind the trees that outlined the park.

Each time the last of the daylight would push it's final ray through the branches of the giant oaks he would offer the same prayer to God:

"Please teach me how to be grateful..."

Timestamped before you left us.

Simply amazing.

I hadn't accessed this blog since my last post on October 14th, at 9:52 am.

Ten minutes later I got a call that my mom was having a medical emergancy.

That call began my seven week journey with my mom as she left this Earth.

It was the most beautiful experience I've ever endured.

Read my last entry I wrote before my journey with my mom began: October Sun

I did winter hard...but I'm coming back to life.

update to add: By adding the link to the entry of October Sun I changed the date it was published.  It now says it was published today...which is wasn't.

October Sun

I love the way the sunlight feels during Fall in Wyoming.  It cuts through the cooling winds that sweep across our state and reminds us that the battle to hold on to summer still rages on.

Soon our October sun will finally submit to the changing season.  Before it fades away under the grey clouds of winter, it will give us one last warm hug as if to say "See you in May.  Don't worry I am coming back."

Back at it.

Sorry for not attending to this blog.

I have been spending my time alternating between mourning, soul-searching, cooking, and drinking wine.

I am coming back to life a bit now.

My winter thaw is begining.  I promise to begin my daily writing here once again.

I need the creative outlet.

Thanks for waiting for me.

I have been very appreciative of all the kind words you have sent to me over the past few months.

Starlight #4

Once a couple of yellow and black colored cats (whom Starlight believed to be brothers) came and hung out by her corral for an entire day.

They were hilarious little creatures.  They scratched the long wooden poles of her fence, then napped in the sun, then awoke and unsuccessfully tried to hunt mice, then napped again.  The two cats then slunk off into the tall grass that faced the setting sun.

Their visit reminded Starlight how lonely she was.

262,795 words later.

On my main blog I finally checked out the word count from the past four years.

262,795 words have been typed out.

Wow.  That is terrifying.

I need a job or a hobby....

Maybe I should just blog about it.

Starlight #3

There was so much that Starlight enjoyed about being a horse, but there were a couple of things that she disliked.  She hated the flies and how they swarmed.  Starlight figured that she spent most of her day being bothered by those nasty little things.

The other issue she had was the night.  She was deeply afraid of the dark. There was something so frightening about the pitch black that surrounded her at night.

Daybreak was always a great relief.

Clone Wars

We get mad when nobody agree's with us.  We get frustrated when people don't share the same perspective as we do...and because of that we write them off as ignorant chumps.

I am to blame for this as well, but where is the fun in all of us being the same?

Why would be want anyone to see the world the same way we do?  The world needs individuals, not clones.  Which am I?

I am afraid to answer that.

Starlight #2

Starlight had a hard time remembering a time before she lived in the corral next to the old lady.  She could not remember anything about where she lived before except how hot it used to be.  Sometimes when she concentrated  she could recall a vague image of how her brother looked, but she could never be able to recollect his name.

Based on the amount scars and marks on her back Starlight was often glad she couldn't remember her past.
